I was born in Mumbai, raised in Dubai and London. As a result, I have an interesting melange of an accent – British, Lebanese and Indian. I speak fluent French, but of late my vocabulary has been limited to vin rouge, rosé s’il vous plait and le weekend n’est ce pas?
Why Brown Girl? Identity crisis? For most of my life, I found myself fighting my brown-ness, wanting to be the exact opposite. While my friends enjoyed dosas and paranthas, I preferred corn on the cob. I instructed my mother to refer to me as Amanda or Gemma, whichever she preferred 🙂 Fast forward many years, I am appreciative and fiercely loyal to the brown. I have let go of Amanda and replaced her with my Starbucks name, Bianca 🙂
My life journey has fortunately led me to various parts of the world, where I’ve met all sorts of people and characters – these have shaped me to have the sensibilities, opinions and tomfoolery that I will share with you.
